Best Retail POS System for Small Shops in Singapore (2026)

We make a POS, so read this with that in mind. Below we compare six retail POS options for small Singapore shops, including ours, using only what each vendor publishes on its own website.

Key takeaways

  • Disclosure: ChaChaCha is a POS vendor, powered by AppsPOS. We compared ourselves alongside five other options and used only information published on each vendor’s own website as of September 2026.
  • For a small shop, the basics decide everything: fast barcode scanning, clean product variants, accurate stock and local payments like PayNow and NETS.
  • Pricing models range from pay-per-transaction with no monthly fee to quoted packages with hardware. Compare the first-year total.
  • If you sell online too, check exactly which platforms each vendor says it connects to. Not every retail POS does.

How we compared (and who wrote this)

ChaChaCha is a point-of-sale system for Singapore businesses, powered by AppsPOS Pte. Ltd., a Singapore POS company operating since 2013. That makes us a competitor of every vendor on this page, so weigh what we say accordingly.

Our rules:

  • Vendor websites only. Every feature and price comes from each vendor’s own site, checked in September 2026. No review sites, resellers or third-party lists.
  • “Not stated on their website” means exactly that. The vendor may well offer the feature. We just could not confirm it from their published pages.
  • Best for, not best overall. We group options by type of shop, and we do not rank ourselves first.

We started from the retail POS vendors that rank on page one of Google for “retail POS system Singapore” in September 2026: EPOS, HashMicro, Edgeworks (EQuipPOS) and MEGAPOS. We added HitPay, which publishes Singapore POS pricing. We wanted to include Qashier, but its Singapore site blocked our requests when we checked, so we could not verify its retail features from its own pages.

What small Singapore retailers need

Whether you run a boutique in Haji Lane or a minimart in Tampines, the list is similar:

  • Barcode scanning and label printing. Scan to sell, and print your own labels for items that arrive without barcodes.
  • Variants. Size, colour and style handled as variants of one product, so stock and reports stay readable.
  • Stock across outlets. See what is in each shop and the storeroom, transfer stock between them, and get low-stock alerts. More on our inventory management page.
  • Member pricing and loyalty. Member-only prices, points and birthday rewards, recognised at the till by phone number.
  • PayNow and NETS. Singapore shoppers pay from their bank apps and NETS cards daily. Card-only is not enough. See POS payments.
  • GST-ready receipts. Once you are GST-registered, receipts need to show GST correctly. Check with your accountant and confirm the POS can produce what you need.
  • Kiosk or self-checkout. Useful for busy shops or late hours, where customers scan and pay themselves.

The options in detail

EPOS Retail

EPOS is a Singapore POS company that says it has more than 17 years of local expertise. Its retail POS page lists real-time inventory with low-stock alerts and reorder suggestions, a multi-outlet module, CRM, staff commission reports, accounting sync with QuickBooks or Xero, and delivery links with GrabMart and Lalamove. EPOS says it charges 0% transaction fees on PayNow payments. Its homepage lists variants, composites and barcode label printing, and advertises “less than S$1K after grants”. The retail page states PSG pre-approval; ask how that carries over under the EDGE Grant.

EQuipPOS by Edgeworks

Edgeworks’ retail POS page lists multi-location inventory, stock transfers, stocktake, purchase orders, low-stock alerts, products with multiple attributes and a customer database shared across outlets. It also offers three levels of customisation, from out-of-the-box to fully custom modules. Its self-checkout solution is described as an IMDA pre-approved solution. Pricing is not stated. It suits shops that expect to need custom workflows or integrations later.

MEGAPOS Retail

MEGAPOS lists retail POS features including barcode printing and scanning, multi-outlet management, price updates and promotions from a central backend, and a membership module with points redemption and member discounts. Its package page compares five retail packages by module, with an online store web app in some tiers, but prices are not shown. MEGAPOS also lists shopping mall integration and offline operation elsewhere on its site, and states that a PSG grant is available.

HitPay POS

HitPay is a payments company with a free POS software product. It lists product variants, inventory tracking with low-stock alerts, barcode scanner support and multi-location management at no extra cost. Its Singapore pricing page shows no monthly fee; in-person PayNow is 0.4% (minimum S$0.10), and the POS page lists in-person domestic cards at 2.5% + S$0.50, with Point of Sale adding 0.2% on top of processing. Hardware is a one-time purchase. It suits very small shops that want low fixed costs and are comfortable with a self-serve setup.

HashMicro POS

HashMicro is an ERP vendor, and its POS page reflects that. It lists a multi price list across outlets, stock management and transfers across locations, a membership management system, loyalty and rewards, and integration with its accounting system to track profit and loss per branch. Barcode appears as a separate module in its product menu. Pricing is not stated. It suits growing retailers that want POS as part of a wider ERP, rather than a small single shop.

ChaChaCha (powered by AppsPOS)

Our own product. For retail, ChaChaCha provides barcode scanning, product variants, member pricing, stock across outlets and a retail kiosk mode for self-checkout. Payments cover PayNow, PayLah!, NETS, Visa, Mastercard and GrabPay, and sales sync to Xero. The POS keeps selling if the internet drops and syncs later. Hardware comes as part of the package and pricing is quote-based. See our retail POS page.

Best by shop type

  • Fashion boutique: variants (size and colour) and member pricing matter most. Compare EPOS, EQuipPOS and ChaChaCha. If you also sell online, check which platforms each connects to. Our fashion boutique POS page covers the workflow.
  • Minimart or convenience store: fast scanning, label printing, low-stock alerts and PayNow or NETS at the till. EPOS, MEGAPOS and ChaChaCha are worth a look, and a kiosk mode helps at peak hours. See grocery and minimart POS.
  • Specialty shop (a single outlet, lower volume): if you mainly need a till and stock count, HitPay’s no-monthly-fee model is simple to budget. Check that the loyalty and reporting you need are there.
  • Multi-outlet retailer: stock transfers, central price updates and shared customer records. EQuipPOS, MEGAPOS, HashMicro and ChaChaCha all list multi-outlet management. HashMicro and EQuipPOS lean towards larger or more customised setups.

Online and offline selling

If you sell on your own website or a marketplace, stock needs to stay in sync. Here is what each vendor states:

  • EPOS: integration with Shopify, WooCommerce and OpenCart, managed from one POS terminal.
  • EQuipPOS: e-commerce integration with Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento and others, plus marketplaces including Lazada and Shopee.
  • MEGAPOS: an online store web app in some retail packages.
  • HitPay: its own online store builder with inventory sync across channels, and Shopify and WooCommerce listed as integrations.
  • HashMicro: e-commerce is discussed on the POS page, but specific platform integrations are not stated there.
  • ChaChaCha: our focus is the in-store counter, self-checkout kiosk and multi-outlet stock. If online sales are a big part of your business, ask us which online-selling options fit your store.

“Offline” matters too: if your internet drops, can you keep selling? MEGAPOS and ChaChaCha both state that their POS keeps working offline. Ask every vendor to show it.

Costs and grants

Retail POS costs fall into three buckets: software (monthly, yearly or per transaction), hardware (terminal, scanner, printer, cash drawer, card reader) and payment processing. HitPay publishes all three; most others quote. See our POS cost guide for how to compare, or use the cost calculator.

From 30 September 2026, PSG, EDG and MRA combine into the EDGE Grant. Enterprise Singapore states support of up to 70% for SMEs, with levels differing by activity. Several vendors here still describe PSG support on their pages, so ask how it applies under EDGE. AppsPOS has been a PSG pre-approved vendor and is approved under the EDGE Grant; we do not quote a percentage because it depends on the activity and your eligibility. Read our grant guide.

How to choose a retail POS

  1. Count your SKUs and variants. Ask each vendor to import a sample of your real product list during the demo.
  2. Test the till. Scan, apply a member price, split a payment between NETS and PayNow, do a return, and close the day.
  3. Check stock workflows. Receive goods, transfer between outlets and run a stocktake.
  4. Confirm online needs. If you sell online, get the exact platform list in writing.
  5. Ask about offline mode and support hours. A till that stops when Wi-Fi drops costs sales.
  6. Total the first year, including hardware, processing fees and any grant, then compare.

Where ChaChaCha fits

ChaChaCha suits small and multi-outlet shops that sell mainly in store and want one system for the till, kiosk, stock and members. You get barcode scanning, product variants, member pricing, stock across outlets, and a retail kiosk mode so customers can scan and pay themselves with the built-in card terminal. Loyalty covers points, stamps, e-wallet balances, vouchers and birthday rewards, with WhatsApp marketing through our CRM and loyalty tools.

Payments cover PayNow, PayLah!, NETS and cards with automated reconciliation, and sales sync to Xero. Head office gets reports across outlets and an ERP. The interface is available in English and Chinese.

What we do not do: e-commerce platform integrations. If your online store is central, a vendor that states a direct integration may fit better. If the counter is where you win, book a demo and bring your product list.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best retail POS system for a small shop in Singapore?

It depends on your shop. HitPay suits very small shops wanting no monthly fee, EPOS and MEGAPOS suit minimarts and boutiques wanting a local vendor with hardware, EQuipPOS and HashMicro suit growing retailers needing customisation or ERP, and ChaChaCha suits in-store shops wanting kiosk mode, member pricing and multi-outlet stock in one system.

How much does a retail POS cost in Singapore?

It varies by model. HitPay publishes no monthly fee, with in-person PayNow at 0.4% and Point of Sale adding 0.2% on top of processing. EPOS advertises under S$1K after grants on its homepage. Most others, including ChaChaCha, quote after a demo. Compare total first-year cost including hardware and payment processing.

Does a retail POS need to support PayNow and NETS?

For most Singapore shops, yes. Many customers pay from their bank apps using PayNow or tap a NETS card, and turning them away costs sales. Check that each payment method is recorded separately in the POS so your end-of-day reconciliation is quick and matches your bank statements.

Can a retail POS sync with my online store?

Some can. EPOS lists Shopify, WooCommerce and OpenCart. EQuipPOS lists Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, Lazada and Shopee. HitPay has its own online store builder plus Shopify and WooCommerce. If online sales matter, get the exact list of supported e-commerce platforms in writing from each vendor, including us.

Is self-checkout worth it for a small shop?

It can be, if you have queues at peak hours or want to run with fewer staff at quieter times. Edgeworks offers a self-checkout solution, MEGAPOS lists self-ordering kiosks, and ChaChaCha has a retail kiosk mode with a built-in card terminal. Start with one unit next to your staffed counter and watch how customers use it.

Can I use a grant for a retail POS in Singapore?

Possibly. From 30 September 2026, PSG, EDG and MRA combine into the EDGE Grant, which Enterprise Singapore says offers up to 70% support for SMEs, with levels differing by activity. Ask each vendor which EDGE activity their package falls under, and confirm eligibility on official channels before you sign.
